Perhaps fewer outfit posts, though I have a bank of those to work through, and more perhaps a mix of beauty, fashion, consciousness and basically things I am enjoying in 2022!

Fundamentally I've learned that I am a summer dresser, which is strange because I always thought I preferred dressing for winter. I think the lack of summer holidays or the muted feeling of summers of the last couple of years has made me wish to be in sandals even more quickly this year. When's the earliest it's acceptable?!

In a bid to shop more conciously, I've started creating wishlists of products I like, and then I try and find them second hand or, if I can't do that, I'll try and find the best version of that item I can afford. Not rushing to buy something because I'm worried it will sell out (a feeling many online retailers are excellent at perpetuating) means I can think about how it will fit in my wardrobe, the cost per wear, plan out looks I'd like to try with it, etc. Also, it makes me dig into my existing wardrobe, as I habitually re-buy the same things, in different colours. I suppose I have found my style lane and don't often deviate from it!

So these items, I've realised on reflection I actually already have in the main....cotton jersey shorts which seem to cross the boundary from WFH comfort to acceptable outerwear; a chunky gold chain, of which I do have several; classic grandad sandals (I have this exact pair from Kaltur and they are the perfect blend of chunky but not Spice Girl) and an oversized linen shirt, something I actually don't have in my wardrobe BUT I have plenty of secondhand silk ones which would work just as well. An outfit to bank for warmer days.

Scrolling through my saved images though I thought they'd be good to post because I've just dragged this shirt out of my summer storage box ready to re-wear. It was a quid from the chazzer like all the best shirts are!

The jeans I still have although I've really gone off ripped jeans just lately, I prefer to wear quite an 80s or 90s style high waist, tapered leg in a really plain wash so either that nice denim blue, black or stonewash. I love the colour of this pair but when putting them on one day I put my foot through the rip and made it twice as big! But they are nice thin denim which is good for those days that it's not really dress weather.

The shoes and leather (faux leather) jacket are sadly in the out pile....the shoes I just wore and wore and the same for the jacket, but because it's faux leather (=plastic) it's started to crack and flake off in areas which is a shame, but I bought it in 2013 and have pretty much worn it constantly since so it's served me well! Earlier in the year I bought a real leather (vintage) blazer from Depop which I am hoping will last me even longer than this leather jacket did; being a blazer style it's got more of an elevated shape than the biker which I think suits me better. But I did love this biker though!

text-align: center;">

I recently posted about some BP skincare I had purchased after having run out of all my skincare almost at once. I also needed to get a couple of makeup bits and bobs so thought it might be nice to share my thoughts on here.

I didn't go wild in the aisles as I don't wear a lot of makeup, but there were a couple of things I wanted to try. I alluded to the Superluminous Undereye Genius in my skincare post, and having ascertained that I'd probably purchased the wrong colour, I also picked up the more apricot coloured shade. It's called medium/deep which is wild as you can see from the side by side shots, it would be far too light for any dark skins and even perhaps many Asian skin tones - I have an olive/yellow undertone to my skin but fundamentally it's still very fair and this was by no means too dark for me, therefore it's hardly inclusive. Come on BP, do better!

That aside, the darker (!) shade did cover up my more purple dark circles better than the lighter shade, but was less brightening. I will use both, though, I don't want to waste them and the slightly darker shade also doubles up as a really good eyeshadow primer! The price of this was £7.39, with a non-member price of £20.

I repurchased The Unbeatable Concealer in shade 75 which I absolutely love, and have been waiting for a restock of. This is priced at £7.06 with a non member price of £20. I love this concealer. This is the second one I've purchased and it is rare for me to use up a whole pan but that is what happened with this one, I was scraping product out from round the edges! It's such a great product, I apply it with my ring finger and just pat it on under the eyes and it stays put, doesn't crease and makes me look much more awake. So of course, BP are discontinuing it *eyeroll* I'm wondering whether to buy another one, or resign myself to the fact that I am going to have to find another concealer to stan?! Why!!

I also gave a brow pencil a go, which is unlike me as I stand by my £2.99 Collection brow pencil but as that had run out, and I've not been out shopping as we're in a lockdown, I thought I'd give this a whirl. A bit more expensive (£5.69) and - sadly - not as good, I've learned that I prefer a chunkier pencil to put my brows on rather than a fine one where you can draw them in hair by hair. I prefer the power brow look to the natural look, so this takes a bit of work to build the brows up to how I like them. However, they do stay on all day, and if I can be bothered to do it properly you can achieve that microbladed look which I do think looks great. It's not a complete fail as I will of course use it, but I'll be back to Collection once this is finished!

I'll end with a big win though! A while ago I got a packet of lipstick samples from Mac (can't remember where from or why I got them!) and obviously with wearing a mask all the time I hadn't bothered to use them. However I thought I'd give one a go for a zoom call the other day, so tried out 'Tres Blase' and loved it - it's a sort of peachy nude which gives that (excue the cliche) 'your lips but better' look. It also lasted ages and was really softening, basically just lovely. I did consider buying it but I've a feeling Mac is not cruelty free, and in any case, the lippy was almost £20 which is madness to me. Happily BP came up trumps with their own version, Futurelipstick Luxe Shine in 'Master Sweet' (£6.76) a peach toned nude which is almost an exact dupe in colour and finish, and it even smells the same! At the same time I also picked up a matt version of the similar shade as it's a colour I wear frequently (or did before I was wearing a mask all the time) The matte version is called 'Sweet Life' and costs £5.32.

Pretty much all of the items I've tried, I've really loved, and whilst there is the odd thing in my routine that isn't from BP, the majority now seems to be!

I don't like wasting products or bulk buying because I don't think makeup and skincare (skincare particularly) keeps very well, so I will use a product up before replacing it. I think when you find a brand you love it can be tempting to throw everything out and start again with a whole new regime, but it's taken me the best part of a year to build up a BP 'collection.'

I am on the £5 per month subscription which gives me £50 allowance to spend per month. I rarely place an order every month, in fact I probably didn't order for 4/5 months during lockdown simply because I had enough skincare and I completely stopped wearing makeup to be honest. I would usually put my brows on (because they are so nonexistent from years of plucking in my teens) and a bit of blusher/concealer/mascara if I had a zoom call or anything like that but for the most part I stopped using it. This meant I had a good stock left and had no reason to buy any more!

With that said, I got to a point at which everything seemed to have run out at once, and as I had a fair amount of allowance built up, I placed an order to restock. This works best for me as BP charge for postage, which is fair enough but it means it makes sense to place a bulk order rather than lots of little orders here and there (I just prefer to pay one lot of postage!)

I think this lot came to around £60 which made me wince a bit but should hopefully mean that I am set for skincare for the next few months. I do tend to spend more on skincare and raid the Collection 2000 racks for makeup (I'm not very brand loyal, but having found BP and used their products and enjoyed them, I am happy to go back to them for skincare!)

Most of these items were repurchases so I know they work for me and I love them. There were a couple of new bits too, which I will review more fully in another post (I like to give products a decent chance before sharing my thoughts!)

Japanfusion Cleanser (member price £7.26) a oil/gel to milk cleanser which I use for my first cleanse to remove makeup. I then use a foaming cleanser (currently Garnier Organic lemongrass detox gel wash) for my second cleanse, as I don't think BP offer an equivalent. This is usually around £6.

Super Healthy Skin Sheer Tinted Oil Free SPF 20 in shade Light (£6.73) I've droned on about this in previous posts, it's like a BB cream but with an SPF and this is my third tube of it, pre-Pandemic I would wear this daily as a foundation. It lasts ages and provides light coverage.

Super Healthy Skin Ultralight UVA/UVB SPF 25 (£9.27) This is the best facial SPF I've ever used, it has more of a primer feel than an SPF. I apply it after my skincare and before my foundation. Non greasy, smells amazing (not too suncream-y!) and doesn't clog my skin up. This is my second tube of it and I use it daily.

Pure Ceramides Elastic Boost Eye Moisture Serum (£6.97) another repurchase, I think this is my second tube. It's ALWAYS out of stock which is a right pain but luckily there was some availability when I placed my order. It has a rollerball applicator which is really soothing on the eyes and is meant to help with undereye puffiness/tiredness. I use it under my usual eye cream and definitely think it helps make the area smoother and less crepey.

Super Retinol Anti-Wrinkle Eye Cream (£8.88) this is my second bottle of this and it is definitely the reason my crows feet have become less visible! It's pretty potent stuff, I was using it daily and my undereyes got a bit dry so I use it every other day now and that seems to be the sweet spot.

JeJu Daily Stem Cell Moisture Shot Serum (£8.60) this was a 'new' purchase as I'd run out of my previous serum, and I love this. Having used it for a couple of weeks, my skin feels hydrated and smooth, the product sinks in really easily and feels lovely to apply.

Super Healthy Hair Blow Dry Spray (£7.75) I tried a BP shampoo when they were trialling it a year or so ago and it was super cheap (I think they had a batch with a misprint on the bottle so it was being sold off very inexpensively) and whilst I liked it, I've not repurchased it; I also tried one of their Gloss Boosters (I believe now discontinued) which again, was ok but quite hard to use (I ended up decanting it into a spray bottle to allow a bit more control when applying it!) However I needed a heat shield spray so added this to my basket when I was ordering. I love the smell of it, (coconuts) and I would go so far as to say it does make my hair look quite shiny (but then this could be my shampoo as well!) I use it every time I wash my hair, before I dry it (my hair is too long and thick to dry naturally, I would be waiting for about 2 days!)

Superluminous Undereye Genius (£7.28) this product was what I had been waiting for before I placed my order, as I'd heard great things about it! It's a colour correcting concealer that you apply before your regular undereye concealer to even out the skin tone and banish dark circles. I wish I'd read the description properly before I bought it, as the light shade (which I assumed I would be) is meant for blue/green circles and the more apricot shade for brown/purple circles. I have olive/yellow undertones to my skin so actually my dark circles are more purple than blue, but this did still work, albeit more as a concealer than a colour corrector. I've got a dedicated post about this in the pipeline so I will discuss it a little more there.

I have taken the opportunity recently to have an audit of my wardrobe and whilst there's not much I am lacking, I am looking forward to pulling out some favourite outfits and wearing my most beloved items again, once we're allowed out and about a bit more!

These trousers were such a good buy. They are from Monki, I also have the same pair in beige that I found in TK Maxx for a steal, so I got them as I have really worn these ones so much. They are very comfortable and not see through, which is important for white trousers! The jumper is years old and originally from River Island, again it's a favourite one which I've worn ever so much but it's definitely a warmer weather jumper (weirdly) because it's got cropped sleeves and you absolutely can't wear a jacket with it (I've tried) it's just so puffy and the sleeves bunch up which is so uncomfortable. So it's good for spring days when it's too warm for a jacket but too cold for a t shirt!

My shoes are another wardrobe staple. They are by Hudson, I got them in 2016 (full disclosure, as part of a brand campaign I worked on with Spartoo, so they were paid for with vouchers). I have worn them a LOT and they actually need reheeling because they've got quite worn down. I've actually got a couple of pairs on the reheeling pile and when cobblers reopen I would quite like to get them fixed - that's not cheap to do but I think it is worth it, because I love the style and they are very comfortable.

Long time readers will remember I was quite the fan of Glossybox back in the day, but after more than my fair share of dud boxes, I knocked that service on the head. As I've garnered a proper skincare routine over the years, I tend to buy what I know works for me now, rather than relying on trying samples to inform my shopping decision.

That being said, when I noticed that February's Birchbox came with a Gua Sha, which is a facial massage tool that I have been looking at purchasing, I thought I'd give it a go. I think the most inexpensive Gua Sha I'd found online was around the £10 mark, and as the Birchbox was £12.95 I thought it made sense to get one this way, and pick up a few extra bits alongside it. Happily there was also a discount code for 40% off when I signed up, so the total I paid was £7.77 (including postage!)

What I really liked about this 'box' was that there was actually no box in sight - the items came packaged in a reusable pouch. I would usually say 'Oooh great for travel!' LOL but I actually do find these handy for bathroom organisation - I have one with my hair care bits in, one for skincare, one for makeup and so on. (I should probably explain that in my bathroom I have a shelving unit with tubs on each shelf, so I find it easier to compartmentalise the tubs rather than having lots of products thrown into each one!)

As I've said, I have a skincare routine pretty much nailed now so I am not really looking for other things to try (though this is always nice) but I signed up to this Birchbox knowing that I would probably cancel after I received it (I have) because I couldn't see myself wanting to spend another £12/£13 per month on beauty samples. What I will say though, it that the items I got in this pouch are all pretty good, so if that is more your thing, and based on this box only (!) I would be inclined to recommend it!

In the pouch I got:

Gua Sha tool (Birchbox, RRP £12) This came in a fabric pouch and is *spoiler alert* Birchbox's own brand, and knowing fairly little about the company, I can't really comment as to whether they would stand up against other brands, but it seems to be of a similar size and shape to others I've seen. The tool is made from natural green jade, and used over moisturiser or facial oil it can help to depuff the face and aid lymphatic drainage. I already use a facial roller, so I will be keen to try this out.

Cheek & Lip Tint in Flamingo (MCoBeauty, full size, RRP £12) I love cream blushers and actually don't have one in my kit at the moment. My previous go-to was Rimmel Stay Blushed! Liquid Cheek Tint which I believe has been discontinued. This MCoBeauty one is a similar colour actually, so I think I would get quite a lot of use from it. I've already made a howler when testing in out, though, as it's quite a lot more liquid than the Rimmel one was so a load came out in a rush when I tested it (cue Aunt Sally blusher cheeks!) but the consistency was good and the application easy - you just pat it on the cheeks and blend out.

Bois Rose Regenerating Face Cleanser (Huygens, sample size, RRP £22) This is a brand I've never heard of but they seem to have fairly robust natural origin credentials, including being vegan and cruelty free. I love the smell of rose and I also am running low on cleanser so this is good timing! I will certainly use it and perhaps will give a more rounded review once I have tested it more comprehensively.

Divine Eyes Self-Heating Eye Mask (Sensory Retreats, sample size, RRP £21) Something I am really looking forward to trying - I find it really hard to take time to do 'nothing' so to set aside 25 minutes to do an eye mask (unlike a hair or face mask where I can do other things whilst the mask is working) will be a real treat. I think because this one is infused with a lavender scent, it would be really nice to wear before bed. The self-heating element is also interesting and sounds super relaxing! The price quoted by Birchbox is for a pack of 7, and one mask is included in this box.

Velvet Rose Bud Soothing Hand Cream (Beautaniq Beauty, full size, RRP £7) I mean, with the past year of constant hand washing, who wouldn't love another hand cream to use! I have been upping the anti of an evening by using Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream before bed, which is amazing but I find it too greasy to use during the day. I tried this product straight away and it's lovely - non greasy, sinks right in and smells amazing! The scent is pure rose, but if overly scented products aren't your thing, you may not like this one.

So, in summary, I was impressed with my first Birchbox! Whilst at the moment it's not something I would commit to subscribing to monthly, for the price I paid I was really pleased with the bits I got. They are currently running a promotion for 50% off your first three month subscription with the code FEB50 - more info here.

As we're nearly at the end of February, January empties might seem a bit redundant but they are (I suppose) really January/February empties as a couple of them I have only just finished off!

I've really found my skincare stride lately and confess to using mainly Beauty Pie products, which I love but I do find that their stock levels fluctuate quite a bit. Of course this is down to Brexit and Covid so isn't really their fault, but as I tend to save up my allowance over a few months and then place a bulk order, it can be frustrating when half of the things I was going to get are out of stock or *horror* discontinued. I fear that this JeJu Daily Rehydration Mist might have gone down that road as it's no longer on the website and usually BP will keep an image of the item with an estimated restock date. It will be a shame if it has gone as I really enjoyed using this and it definitely did make a difference to my skin, in terms of hydration at least. It also smelled really good!

The Blink Brow Bar Daily Brow Cream I posted about here and you can see it has taken me only 2 months to finish the whole thing, with daily use. I wish I could rave about how much it's improved my eyebrows but I saw no discernable difference really which is a shame. It did help keep my brows flat and stop them being too unruly which was definitely a benefit but I wouldn't buy this again. It actually melted a lot in the pot and was quite oily and difficult to use, something I touched on in the first impressions post. The night balm is much better - a lot thicker so you need to use a lot less, I find; it still looks almost full!

The Ordinary Niacinamide was a product I'd heard about a lot but was a bit scared to use, I find The Ordinary products great but quite overwhelming - who knows what to put with which, they look quite medicinal the word 'acid' is bounced about a lot which is somewhat offputting for someone like me who isn't completely au fait with multi level skincare. This, though, was amazing - I used it like a serum, rightly or wrongly (again, can never seem to find thorough, difinitive directions for use) and it cleared up my maskne really well.

I have usually always reached for a makeup removing oil to take my face off at the end of the day, but for some reason the two that I have bought in the past (Super Facialist Cleansing Oil and Superdrug Vitamin C Cleansing Oil) were both out of stock when I went to get them, so I tried this The Body Shop Chamomile Cleansing Butter instead. This was really lovely, it had quite a thick consistency so I often used more than I needed as it was difficult to scrape out a small amount! It removed my makeup really well and left my skin soft and not at all dry afterwards. I did however get through it very quicky so it probably isn't the best value for money; I find the cleansing oils last for months so I am hoping for a restock of those soon!

Finally I also finished (well, I say finished, it's dried up so now unuseable!) this Barry M Feature Length Mascara. I am not particularly brand loyal to any mascaras, nor do I purchase expensive ones (I have in the past, but can discern no real difference between a £25 or a £5 one). This was about a fiver and did what it said on the tin; made my lashes appear longer but that was about it. It was a perfectly fine day to day mazzy but probably not one I'd buy again.

This one I was kindly given by a friend who was going to donate it to charity, but I'd always admired it on her so I was happy to take her up on the offer of sending it my way! In return I had a pair of shoes that she had liked but I had never worn, so since we are the same size it worked out well as a swap. It's a really nice way of extending the life of a garment you no longer wear, and definitely helped freshen up my coat collection, although this poor thing's only had one spin round the block the whole year so far!

These Topshop boots have been a really good investment, I think this is the third winter I've had them and they are still going strong. I had to replace the laces because the pair that came with them lasted about ten minutes, I'm not sure why but they wore through and snapped really quickly. But a replacement pair from Timpsons have been much better.

The sunglasses are new (ish) and I got them in the Topshop sale (pre-ASOS buyout) for around £3....I actually ended up buying about 4 pairs of different styles as they were extremely heavily reduced and I like Topshop sunnies. I've definitely got plenty to choose from in the summer months now!

Also can we mention this ridiculous bag. I picked this up from Depop for about £6. I've used it so much the handles are coming unstitched!

Likewise I'm actually not even wearing that much makeup at the moment, either, but what I do use has become real favourites.

This Sheer Tinted Oil Free SPF 20, for example. It's a kind of foundation/BB cream hybrid, as the title suggests it's not thick or cakey at all, just enough to even out my skintone without feeling like I'm wearing too much makeup. It's from Beauty Pie, as most of my makeup and skincare seems to be these days - this is actually the third tube I've ordered and will definitely continue to repurchase this!

The concealer I've actually just finished - it lasted me almost a year (!) and I really liked using this. Called 'The Unbeatable Concealer' it's pretty much that - probably one of the best I've ever used. I would be rebuying it immediately if it wasn't currently out of stock! Most days I've been using this in lieu of any foundation, to cover blemishes and under eye circles. It doesn't collect in creases, and applies smoothly and without dragging. I just apply using my fingers, I am not very artistic when it comes to makeup and don't have the biggest brush collection, but I find it works just fine! This is all I need for a flawless base every day.

Really I just like to record products I've finished, because I know I've liked them enough to reach for them daily and that's useful when I am needing to repurchase replacements. I never used to be very brand loyal with beauty but there are things I've bought again and again, so it's helpful for me to highlight them here!

So, only three empties this month but they are really good ones!

1. Beauty Pie Sheer Tinted Oil-Free SPF 20 (£6.72) I last purchased this product in May, so it's lasted really well considering I use this daily. Long time readers may remember my affinity with BB creams, in fact my first ever empties post featured a Dr Jaart one (long since discontinued sadly). This one, like many of my Beauty Pie buys has been fabulous - this is actually the second tube I've got through. The only reason I haven't repurchased it yet is because I have a foundation from The Ordinary that I want to finish up first as I try to only replace like with like, rather than stockpiling products in my bathroom.

2. Speaking of The Ordinary, I've used their skincare for a short time but I am enjoying the results they give. The Hyaluronic Acid (featured in October's empties) and Niacinamide serum (almost finished!) have been really good and I also loved this moisturiser, especially after using any acid based products. I used this as Natural Moisturising Factors (£4.90) as a night cream, as I found it a bit greasy for day (despite the claims it's non-greasy!) but love the hydrating effect it gives.

3. Beauty Pie Pure Ceramides Elastic Boost Eye Moisture Serum (£6.81) This was a bit of an impulse purchase but I loved it. The applicator has a rollerball top which allows application without drag on the undereye skin. I liked to apply this and follow with a retinol eye cream, which really helped to restore the elasticity to my undereyes and also repel any crepiness or fine lines. I would love to repurchase this but it seems to be permanently out of stock!

I did wonder if it would be a bit strange to review a toothpaste, but then I thought actually, oral health is (obviously) a major part of my beauty routine, so it makes sense to discuss it!

I usually choose Arm & Hammer toothpaste (more force of habit, having used the brand for many years) but buying toothpaste had become quite automatic - I would just always buy the same because I knew it worked for me. Having looked more fully into their policies, however, it would appear they are not a cruelty free brand, so I would want to switch over to something else (nothing should suffer for my toothbrushing!)

Ordo is a dentist recommended brand and the formulation includes everything you need for an all round clean - helping to strengthen enamel, protect gums, remove plaque and restore whiteness. It can even be used for sensitivity. The flavour is 'dual mint' but I found it had a spearminty quality which was super refreshing. The product is made in the UK and the company is based in Manchester.

The brand offer a subscription service with a starter kit containing a sonic+ electric toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, interdental brushes, brush heads, and even a reusable mouthwash bottle and a carton of mouthwash! This kit alone costs £55 which I think represents excellent value for money, I use an electric toothbrush (not even a sonic one!) and the brush and first set of heads cost around that amount alone! You can purchase this kit as a one off, or sign up to a subscription where you will be sent replacement brush heads and toothpaste/mouthwash according to the frequency you desire. Even more useful at the moment, when we're in and out of lockdowns and trying to avoid leaving the house too frequently.

If you're all good for a new toothbrush but fancy trying out the toothpaste, it's £4 for an 80ml tube. Perhaps slightly more pricey that something you'd get from the supermarket, but the cruelty free and recyclable aspect, when we're all trying to do more to help the environment, and the dental credentials it comes with, I think, make it worth it.

Find out more and shop Ordo here.

This basically means that the brow hairs are brushed up and 'set' to create a fuller looking brow without the need for extra filling in; they are also tinted to add to the effect. I decided to get this done in September, a lovely friend of mine had hers done and they looked so great I thought I'd take the plunge!

The procedure itself was painless and I loved the results, which last between 4-8 weeks depending on upkeep. You have to brush up your brows each day to set them in to shape, and as the tint has faded I've been filling them in with a little pomade, but apart from that, they are so easy to look after and take about 5 minutes to do in the morning!

To keep them in the best shape, I picked up a few bits from Blink Brow Bar (via TK Maxx!) before lockdown #2 started. I remember Blink Brow Bar launching in 2004 (I must have read several pieces on it in Vogue and Elle, but no hopes of ever attending a bar myself living in deepest North Devon) so I had high expectations of the products and I've not been disappointed so far. In terrible blogger form I already opened and have used these products quite heavily so apologies for the smudgy apperance in the photos!

Brow exfoliator RRP £17 (I paid £1.99) this is a great product I use every few days to smooth the skin around the brows and remove any product build up that my makeup remover doesn't. It also prevents ingrown hairs and is a combination of crushed sugar and sweet almond shell to lift away dead skin and nourish the hair.

Brow Gel RRP £17 (I paid £1.99) I took a punt on this as the colour was called 'cinnamon spice' and the packaging was sealed but due to the price I thought I'd risk it. it's probably a shade too light but it doesn't really show up on the brows, just allows them to be brushed into shape nicely so actually it works fine for me.

Brow Conditioning - Day and Night RRP £26 (I paid £1.99) These little pots of balm are lovely - a thick night balm which was of similar consistency to the lotion my therapist gave me after my initial treatment, which is more like a mask, helping to shine, nourish and protect the brows and surrounding skin. The day brow cream is a little lighter and oilier in consistency, containing cocoa and shea butters for softness. Very hydrating, this stops that 'crunchy' effect that can sometimes occur with over-processed brows. I actually find this a bit greasy for everyday use, though I do use it now and then, but the pack was worth buying for the night balm which I use all the time! Definitely worth keepin an eye out for in TK Maxx when it reopens!

So, that's my current brow-care routine, I am hoping to grow them a bit thicker through lockdown #2! What are your tips for great brows?

I appreciate the blog has been rather hit and miss this year; work kept me busy over lockdown #1 and will probably do the same over #2, which I am not complaining about as I feel very lucky to have a job at all. It has meant though that using a laptop for fun after using one all day is not on the priority list!

I like empties posts and I used to share them quite a lot, so I thought I'd go back to what I know and share the latest! These are all things I've used through the summer and I think when you actually finish a beauty product off, it shows that you have really enjoyed using it, so here's my review!

1. Eyeko Style & Define Brow Gel £18 - since having my brows laminated back in September I no longer spend hours pencilling them in. I use a pomade to define and then brush them up with this tinted gel for a polished look. This is the second tube of this I've used and I love it. It's definitely going on the Christmas list! Find it here.

2. Your Good Skin Blackhead Clearing Scrub £6 - This is the second tube of this I've used as well! I did find it made my skin really soft but I have read that using walnut shells as an exfoliator isn't ideal, so I have actually switched to a liquid exfoliator now. It's an affordable, cruelty free brand you can find in Boots; I also used a dryness rescue cream from the brand which I loved, they're worth a look here.

3. Beauty Pie Super Retinol Eye Cream £7.24 (£60 to non-members) - I've got a whole post coming up about my Beauty Pie membership and why I've downgraded (but not left!) and this eye cream is one of the reasons. Super lightweight, hydrating and definitely kicked my crows feet in the pants. Find out more here.

4. The Ordinary Hyularonic Acid 2% + B5 £5 - I've only recently discovered The Ordinary (well, I'll actually say rediscovered as I have dabbled in their foundations before, but never skincare) and I was pleasantly surprised with this, the stand out purchase from a few different things I tried. The thought of putting an acid on my face is terrifying but actually this one was a hydrator, plumper and smoother and worked perfectly under my daily moisturiser. 10/10 will rebuy!

I would love to hear of your most used and loved skincare and beauty products! I am pretty certain I will repurchase 3 of the 4 I've listed here, when you find things that work well it's such a win!

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">I recently re-found a vintage dress that I thought I'd lost in a house move, so that was thrilling! It's actually too big for me to wear unless I belt it but over the winter I tried it with a jumper over and tights 'n' boots and it worked nicely for me!

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">I remember buying this for about a pound I think because I loved the print. It's such a fancy dark floral and great for any time of year - you can see me wearing it in the last photo in the spring with bare legs and very short hair (way back in 2010!) Wish I still had that belt. I think it belonged to a friend and it had broken, the pin had fallen out so I wore it like a sash belt and had to winch it in tightly to stop it coming undone!

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">I am not perfect when it comes to sustainable fashion, but I do try to by a lot of secondhand, charity shopped, depoped or Ebayed items....and I am more considered when it comes to keeping items for longer, upcycling them and changing them to avoid the constant revolving door wardrobe effect which I know I used to fall foul of a lot of the time. We can only do our best!

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Swisse Beauty Vitamins for hair, skin and nails *gifted*

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">I was recently made aware of Australian brand Swisse, who have been producing supplements for over 50 years. Their mantra is 'wellness powered by science and nature' and it's this combination of science and nature that is key in the creation of their extensive range of high quality supplemental products.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Now launching in the UK, the ranges cater to vegetarian and vegan users and offer both multivitamins for daily use along with products targeting specific healthcare needs. There is also Swisse Beauty, which is a range of supplements designed with particular beauty concerns in mind.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">I have been very kindly gifted a sample of Swisse Beauty hair, skin and nails tablets. These contain biotin, selenium, and zinc which can help maintain healthy skin and hair and promote strong nails. They also contain pomegranate which is lauded for its antioxidant properties, to aid in anti-aging.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">In the interests of transaprency, I can't comment yet on the efficacy of the product as I believe in giving it a chance! I will check back in once I've finished trying the sample and write a fuller review.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">These supplements, and others, are available at Swisse.co.uk

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">I wanted to share this video by Bodyform because it deals with the side of menstruation so often left out by mainstream media. Menstrual blood is not blue and some women choose not to, or are unable to, have children. Bodyform says:

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">From the age of 12 women are taught
they get their periods, should want and then have children, have a few
more periods and then retire. Their femininity constructed around the
idea of fertility.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Bodyform are challenging this norm by sharing real women’s
experiences in their new #wombstories campaign. A campaign to challenge
taboos and give women’s health issues a voice: periods, endometriosis,
miscarriage, infertility, IVF, menopause and even the simple decision
to not want to have children are covered in this thought provoking film
showing what it really means to be a woman – there is no one size fits

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">I think it's a fabulous video and, whilst there's still a ways to go I think this is definitely a step in the right direction.

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">I can't believe that we've lived in our new home for almost a year now. We got the keys in July last year (it was raining, as it always seems to be when we move house!) and as luck would have it we were staying at my brothers at the time, as we had sold our previous flat before we had found this one that we wanted to buy, and the new owner was keen to move in. So we spent about six weeks at my brothers with all of our things in storage, before we were able to start moving into our new home.

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">We didn't want or need to do any major renovations, but we did want to make some cosmetic changes as the primary colour palette for the whole property was varying shades of purple. No disrespect to anyone's styling preferences but we just weren't keen on it and so we repainted the hallway, living room and ensuite which were all shades of lilac and changed the carpet in the spare room which was bright purple (fraggle rock purple I like to call it!)

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Once that bulk of painting was done and the paint smell had dispersed, we were able to move in properly and start to decorate as we wished. Embarrasingly almost a year later we haven't got any pictures up on our walls in the living room! We have got the ones we want to put up, we've just not yet got round to hanging them. We have a picture rail which will be a novelty to try when we get round to putting the pictures up!

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Another thing we need to change are the curtains in the living room, the building is listed and has large sash windows so curtains are a must to prevent draughts, especially in the winter. Currently they are, again, not to our taste but due to the size of the windows they are not cheap to replace so we have lived with them perfectly well for the last year!

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">I think in this 'instagram' day and age there's a lot of pressure to move into a new place and make it perfect, worthy of squares on the 'gram but the reality is that moving house is expensive. We have tried to do the best we can to make our home as lovely as we can, but we don't feel there's a rush to do so, and I'd rather get things right than do it hurriedly and then want to change it all in a few months. Linking to Zoe London's post on the same subject who explains it much more coherently, here!

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Another throwback post that never got published as I took it just before we moved house. My mum bought this M&S dress for me last summer and I wore it loads, I am definitely cracking it out this summer as well. It's such a great chuck on and go piece, I like that it has sleeves which makes it great for spring as it keeps you more covered if there's a chill. And the print! Leopard print is my favourite colour after all. I would love it even more if it was 'traditional' leopard print, but this is surprisingly wearable.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">The shoes are a classic, again an M&S purchase and look great with everything. Another good spring shoe, for when you can't quite get the trotters out but don't want to wear a loafer. So comfy as well!

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Skincare via Beauty Pie

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">I have talked at length about Beauty Pie and how much I love it here, and it would be fair to say that as I finish up currently used beauty bits and pieces, I am replacing them with items from the Pie. I never really thought too much about my skin, apart from making sure I'd taken my makeup off each night and using a moisturiser and eye cream, but I am now being much more proactive with my 'routine' as I have time in the morning and evening to dedicate to it.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">The thing I have really noticed about Beauty Pie (and I've only made a handful of orders since joining in January) is that the quality of the products really is incredible. I actually placed the order for the products above in February, but I wanted to give them a proper chance before reviewing them as I learn years ago you have to let a product have at least 3 weeks to work on your skin.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">I bought the Superdrops Flash Facelift mainly because of the name (!) and also because of the Hyulaonic Acid content which is meant to be very hydrating. BP claims that, when used for 6 weeks, you may just agree that they're a miracle. I'd be inclined to - my skin actually does look more smooth and full, and my skin tone is much improved. I'm not sure whether it's just down to this, or whether it's a combination of other tweaks I've made to my skincare routine, but I'll keep using it!

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">The Super Retinol Anti-Wrinkle Eye Cream was another item purchased because my previous eye cream had run out, and for the first few weeks I really felt this got rid of my eye bags! It's a really lightweight cream and sinks in quickly, you don't need very much product so it lasts a long time.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Finally, sunscreen should be an everyday part of a skincare routine and though I always use moisturisers or foundations which contain an SPF, I haven't used a specific one before because I just find them so greasy. This one is not like that at all, it's very soft, sinks in quickly and actually feels more like a primer than a sunscreen, doesn't leave that shiny residue on the skin.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">All three of these products I would certainly repurchase and I'm barely a quarter of the way through the flash face lift drops, so I feel they will last a long time! Another brilliant slice of Beauty Pie.
